Thank you Russell!
Thank you to the sponsors of today’s men’s competition – Russell’s Prime Quality Meats!
While today’s comp isn’t the Braham Bull, Russell has been sponsoring the Braham Bull for years and year! A bit of history about the Braham Bull. The Braham Bull was first played in 1992, initially sponsored by Phil Doyle, a brahman bull breeder from the Orara Valley. Rumour has it that Bill William, a local optometrist, was also an original sponsor hence why the Bull in the trophy is wearing glasses! When Phil passed away, Russell took over sponsoring. The event first started as an eclectic and then was changed into what it is today, a Single Matchplay Competition. The qualifying for the Matchplay section takes place in conjunction with a normal Saturday competition. One of the early winners who is still a member today is Andy Gilkes.
This will be Russell’s last year sponsoring the Braham Bull so we would like to take the time to recognise that Russell is a terrific sponsor and supporter of the Club and we appreciate him and his support of the Club, so a huge thank you and round of applause to Russell.
