Damage to personal property while on course

A reminder to members, Golf Australia maintains a Player’s Personal Liability Insurance Policy for all members of affiliated golf clubs as part of Golf Australia’s Australian Golf Insurance scheme.

This means if you hit or damage a car, cart of other personal property while playing golf there is a liability insurance where we can submit a no excess claim IF the member comes forward to report they have done the damage.

We stress that there is no excess to this claim and members MUST come forward to be able to submit the claim.

Even if you are unsure if you have hit a car in the carpark or hit your ball out onto the road, please report it so we can make notes in case anyone comes forward to report damage.

If in the last week you have hit a ball into the car park or onto Link Road, can you please come and see us at Reception as we have had some incidents where damage has occurred.

SCENARIO 1

You are driving along Thompsons Road when a golf ball hits your windscreen.  The Club has no liability here BUT the golfers on course do. So IF a member comes forward and lets us know they had a wayward ball, we can submit a no excess claim for your windscreen to be fixed under the Players Liability Insurance Policy. If no one comes forward, unfortunately the Club is not liable to fix the damage.

SCENARIO 2

A member is teeing off and their ball bounces off into the car park, hitting a car. The member comes straight to reception to report the damage. After some investigating, the Club tracks down the owner of the damaged car. The member submits a no excess claim under Players Liability Insurance Policy and the damage can be fixed.
