Australian Junior Age Division Championships & Australian Masters – Cooper Holman on Top Again
The Easter school holidays were a very busy time for young Cooper Holman.
The Australian Junior Age Division Championships were held at Royal Pines Gold Coast Tuesday 6th April – Thursday 8th April under appalling conditions. The 1st round was cancelled due to the course flooding, couldn’t even hit balls at the driving range as everything under water. Wednesday, 2nd round was played on Gold Course and Cooper had a solid 2 over par 38 leaving him in outright 2nd place. Thursday, 3rd and final round we were changed to the Blue Course Cooper played really well but unfortunately had a bad day on the greens with 5 x 3 putts with a score of 39 which left him 5 over for the tournament and 3 off the lead coming a fantastic 3rd place overall. This was Cooper’s first major 3 day tournament and we are so very proud of how he played and carried himself both on and off the course.
Cooper then travelled to the Crowne Hunter Valley to compete in the US Kids Australian Masters held over 2 rounds on Thursday 15th April & Friday 16th April. The weather conditions were great for golf and Cooper was ready to go low. The first round would see Cooper shoot the best round of his short golfing life with a nearly flawless 4 under par 32 with the only blemish coming on the 8th with a bogey. After day 1, he held a 7 shot lead and was ready to extend it further. Round 2 was another solid round but nothing dropping for Cooper but a clutch eagle on the 7th saw him come home strong with 3 under par for the last 3 holes shooting another sub-par round 2 under 34. Total of -6 par 66 for 2 rounds winning The Australian Masters 2021 Boys 7 Division by 8 shots. This was an amazing win and he was so happy with the result (as you can see from the photos). “A massive thank you to my coach Brandon Connor who does a fantastic job (even when I don’t listen) and to the Coffs Harbour Golf Club for your continued support and of course, Mum & Dad” – Cooper Holman – Winner of the Australian Masters 2021 Boys 7 Division.
