18th Green Redesign
Dear Members,
The board has approved the redesign of the 18th Green and enlargement of the top putting green. As members are aware the existing 18th green has limited pin positions and gradients in excess of 9 degrees. At times through the year with high winds the green can become almost unplayable. The redesign carried out by Richard Chamberlain can be found below for members to review and we believe the design will deliver a much more useable green that will still be a challenging finishing hole for members and visitors alike. Below are some the key points incorporated into the design
-Increase in green size from the old green which is 500m2 to new green which will be 650m2
-Reduction in gradient, currently some parts of 18th green are 9 degrees, the new green will have a maximum of 2 degrees of gradient
-Multiple pin positions are incorporated in the design and the green will have two tiers with a back plateau. Note that is will not be as severe as the 26th green
-Bunker will move forward but still provide protection for the green for errant shots to the left especially a front pin
-Surrounds on the right hand side of green will remain the same
– Rear mounding will stay the same to protect the practice facilities and provide a challenging shot back should a player over shoot the green
-Removal of the tree at rear of green to allow increased green size (completed)
Top putting green upgrade
With the increase in member play and visitor numbers we will also be constructing a new larger practice putting green. This will give members a better green surface to practice on, especially for drill putting and take the pressure off the bottom putting green.
The new putting green size will 210m2, the old putting green is currently 150m2.
Commencement Date August 2025
Works will commence after the North Coast Open Professional event is early August 2025. We will have in play a temporary green at the bottom of the 18th fairway and the hole will be a par 3. The Match committee will have the course re rated while the temporary is in play. The new Green is expected to be in play February 2026. Note that once this green is completed the board is looking to pause on further green redevelopments in 2026 to allow members opportunity to enjoy the course uninterrupted.
