Justin’s Farewell – 28/07/23

After 17 years at the Club, we are sad to see Justin “Pup” Sheehan, resign from his role as Greens Superintendent. Justin is moving to Port Douglas to take up a role as Superintendent at Palmer Reef Golf Club and will be sorely missed, not only for his expertise and dedication he has showed over the last 17 years, but also for the many friendships he has made at the Club.Justin has overseen a period at the Club that has seen huge changes to the course, lifting the status of the Club to one of the premier Country courses in Australia, something Justin should be extremely proud of.

In his time at the Club Justin has overseen the installation of the new fairway irrigation system and installation of concrete paths to all 27 holes, all completed by the Greens staff saving the Club hundreds of thousands of dollars. Justin has been here for the extensive drainage program across the course including the raising of the 23rd and 11th fairways, fairway upgrades to couch, bunker upgrades and new greens on 19th, 9th and practice green, to name a few of the projects. But perhaps one of Justin’s best qualities has been his ability to present the course in tournament condition, week in week out, for members to play despite the foot traffic we have and the weather conditions we endure.

Justin will leave a huge hole at the Club but a legacy that he should be extremely proud of.

We wish Justin all the best in his future endeavors.

Justin will be having dinner at the Club on Friday 28th July with his family and friends, members are invited to book a table, farewell Justin and wish him well on his next adventure. Bookings for Friday night dinner can be made by calling the Lakes Restaurant on 6652 3244 ext. 4
